POSITION –
The Department of
Epidemiology at the University of North Texas Health Science
Center at Fort Worth invites applications for tenure track faculty
positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor.
Candidates with strong qualifications and are interested may be
considered for Department Chair position.
QUALIFICATIONS
– Candidates must
possess an earned doctorate in epidemiology, or other related
field with additional epidemiologic training or experience.
Preference may be given to candidates with research interests in
health disparities, social, environmental, cancer and genetic
epidemiology and/or with community-based participatory research
emphasis; however, all research interests related to epidemiology
will be considered. In all cases, a strong background in
epidemiological methodology is desirable. The successful candidate
must have a focus on developing, or continuing and sustaining, an
independent and collaborative research program, and a strong
interest in teaching and advising graduate students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Responsibilities
include conducting research, teaching graduate courses, advising
and mentoring graduate students, and providing service to the
community and the field of public health.
COMPENSATION AND RANK
– Rank and compensation
are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary is
very competitive.
DEPARTMENT
-
The department has a strong focus on community-based research, and
collaborates with other departments in the CEPH-accredited School
of Public Health, the School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of
Health Professions, the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and
the new College of Pharmacy The UNTHSC SPH is growing rapidly in
student population and research productivity. Our student body
has grown from 221 students to 385 students over the past five
years. We currently offer the MPH, MHA, DrPH, and PhD degrees,
with an epidemiological concentration in both the MPH and the PhD
degree programs. We are seeking faculty to complement this
growth. In addition, the School’s research funding has grown from
$600,000 annually to over $8.5 million over the past five years.
Currently, school faculty members are conducting over $25 million
of ongoing research. This growth has resulted in an almost
continuous search for outstanding young and experienced faculty
members to help us maintain this momentum.

UNTHSC is located in
Fort Worth, Texas, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, which
is now the fourth largest population center in the United States.
Fort Worth offers all the
advantages of an urban environment located in a large metroplex,
while maintaining a community-oriented atmosphere.
It provides excellent cultural activities in virtually all area of
interest with easy access to other regions of the United States
and international locations through its major airport. The UNTHSC
SPH works in collaboration with faculty from the major area health
institutions and universities. The institutions strategic plan
positions the UNT Health Science Center for rapid expansion and
growth, matching the growing population and economic vitality of
the DFW Metroplex.
