The
Center for Outcomes Research and Education in
the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University,
is seeking applicants for a full-time Post-Doctoral Research
Associate position. The successful candidate would be fully
engaged in the diverse outcomes-based research and training
programs of the Center (http://www.vet.k-state.edu/core)
and the thriving epidemiology and population health group (http://www.vet.k-state.edu/research/eph/index.html).
A PhD in epidemiology, animal science, biostatistics,
agricultural- or pharmaco-economics, or a related field is
required, as is research experience in population health,
health economics, quantitative methods, livestock
health/performance, or food safety/zoonoses. Preferred
qualifications are a DVM, experience with large-scale
population databases for animal health and economic decision
making, and knowledge and applied expertise in experimental,
observational, and synthesis research methods. Excellent oral
and written communication skills, and a collaborative
philosophy will be emphasized. We seek candidates with
documented skills in study design, statistical analysis, and
interpretation of data/results from epidemiologic research,
and the ability to contribute to grant writing and other
mechanisms of developing research funding. Interest and
experience teaching or delivering technical training and
continuing education to professionals would be an asset.
Multiple diverse, and robust, research opportunities are
available so the research focus can be tailored to the
individual and program priorities. Current methodological
focus areas of the group include risk assessment, Bayesian
methods, network modeling, structural equation modeling,
meta-analysis, mixed effects linear models, infectious disease
modeling, real-time surveillance, and the development of
practical decision tools.
This full-time
