The Center for Outcomes Research and Education in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University, is seeking applicants for a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Associate position.  The successful candidate would be fully engaged in the diverse outcomes-based research and training programs of the Center (http://www.vet.k-state.edu/core) and the thriving epidemiology and population health group (http://www.vet.k-state.edu/research/eph/index.html).  A PhD in epidemiology, animal science, biostatistics, agricultural- or pharmaco-economics, or a related field is required, as is research experience in population health, health economics, quantitative methods, livestock health/performance, or food safety/zoonoses.  Preferred qualifications are a DVM, experience with large-scale population databases for animal health and economic decision making, and knowledge and applied expertise in experimental, observational, and synthesis research methods. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and a collaborative philosophy will be emphasized.  We seek candidates with documented skills in study design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of data/results from epidemiologic research, and the ability to contribute to grant writing and other mechanisms of developing research funding.  Interest and experience teaching or delivering technical training and continuing education to professionals would be an asset. Multiple diverse, and robust, research opportunities are available so the research focus can be tailored to the individual and program priorities. Current methodological focus areas of the group include risk assessment, Bayesian methods, network modeling, structural equation modeling, meta-analysis, mixed effects linear models, infectious disease modeling, real-time surveillance, and the development of practical decision tools. This full-time unclassified position provides University benefits and allows excellent salary support reflecting qualifications and experience.

Kansas State University is the western anchor for the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, which is home for over 200 animal health and nutrition company headquarters and whose leadership controls over one-third of the world’s animal health business.  K-State’s newest campus in Olathe was built in part to enhance and develop public-private partnerships in the region and to capitalize on the University’s reputation as a leader in the field of animal health and food safety/security.  Nestled in the heart of the scenic Flint Hills, Manhattan Kansas is a thriving center for trade, education, government, health care, and entertainment.  The Manhattan area features an excellent university, respected army post, fine arts, the beauty of nature, exciting sports teams, and a wide range of other attractions. After a rigorous selection process, Manhattan Kansas was selected as the location for the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility, or NBAF. The $1.25 billion facility is the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's foremost animal disease research facility, currently under construction on Kansas State University's Manhattan campus. The strategic location of this facility places NBAF near important veterinary, agricultural and biosecurity research and expertise.

To apply, please complete the application http://careers.k-state.edu/cw/en-us/job/497482/fellow-post-doc-center-for-outcomes-research-education and submit a cover letter, CV and contact information for three professional references.
