The
University of California, Davis, School of Medicine,
Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting 1 full-time
research faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or
Full Professor level in the In-Residence series, with the
potential for tenure. The In-Residence series requires
demonstrated excellence in research, teaching,
professional competence, and service. Candidates are
expected to develop and sustain a nationally recognized
program of scholarly or creative work, contribute
meaningfully to the teaching mission, and participate in
service to the Department, School, University, and
profession.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in health,
epidemiology, or a related discipline. Additional training
during a formal post-doctoral fellowship or substantial
prior research experience is preferred, and a track record
of independent funding is highly desirable. We especially
welcome applicants whose research, teaching, and community
outreach demonstrate a commitment to the inclusion of
underrepresented and/or non-majority populations.
Faculty
in this role will be expected to develop and maintain an
active, externally funded research portfolio; engage in
teaching, mentorship, and scholarly training of medical
students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty;
participate in departmental service, administrative
responsibilities, and professional activities appropriate
to academic rank; and contribute to the advancement of
diversity, equity, and inclusion through research,
teaching, and/or community engagement.
The UC
Davis Department of Emergency Medicine provides
comprehensive emergency services to a large local urban
and referral population as a Level One Trauma Center,
Comprehensive Stroke Center, and EMS base station. The
Department has a strong research infrastructure and
consistently ranks near the top nationally in NIH funding.
Research resources include administrative, grant writing,
analytical, lab space, regulatory, and seed and bridge
funding support. Areas of complementary strengths include
trauma and neurological emergencies, opioid research,
cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, social determinants
of health, and implementation science. UC Davis also
serves as a Hub in the SIREN and PECARN emergency care
research networks.
