As
first announced months ago by CDC all support for
Epi Info™ will cease effective
September 1, 2025. This date coincides with MicroSoft's announcement
of the end of support for Windows 10 effective October 14, 2025 and
the upcoming
end of life for the .Net framework. On August 19, 2025 CDC sent
out the following email to Epi Info™
users:
Dear Epi Info™ user,
As we previously shared, support for Epi
Info™ is being phased out by CDC.
After Sept. 1, 2025, CDC will not be
providing product development or technical support for Epi Info™.
While the desktop tool could be functional after Sept. 1, updates to
Windows operating system and .Net framework could interfere with the
usability of Epi Info™. We encourage users to act now and move to an
alternative software solution.

In addition,
as we reported last month, there is an ad-hoc group forming to
attempt to ensure continuity of the product and explore avenues for
preservation. For the Save Epi Info™ Project to succeed they need
volunteers and other resources. Information about the progress of
their efforts can be found here:

Individuals or
organizations interested in the project can contact the founders here:

The EpiMonitor will
continue to follow the progress of this group and provide updates as
they become available. In the meantime, the evolution at MicroSoft may
mean that other software products and tools that have been created
over the years may also cease to work. If you are aware of any please
forward the information to:
info@epimonitor.net
This will allow us to develop a repository of this information for
everyone to share. Thank you for your help in this process.
