About this opportunity:
We are looking for an Environmental Epidemiologist to join
Global Human Safety team, part of our Research & Development
organisation. With experience in the conduct or review of
environmental epidemiology studies, we expect you to be able
to integrate information from epidemiology publications with
your knowledge of exposure science (preferably in
agrochemicals) and information from toxicology studies to
provide expert opinions on human safety.
Human Safety is part of Our Product Safety Team and, this
position will work alongside fellow scientists from across our
international business as the subject matter expert to lead
and develop the understanding of epidemiology and human health
surveillance information.
Please see below an outline of the position:
·
Implement a framework and vision to work cross-functionally
and across regions to develop a proactive strategy and
implement a framework and vision for addressing challenges and
opportunities related to epidemiology and human health
surveillance information.
·
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
in developing a strategy and action plan for putting
epidemiology data into context with toxicology information and
human exposure scenarios.
·
Provide critical reviews of published scientific literature
relating to epidemiology and be able to assess relevance of
exposure and toxicology information.
·
To understand and be able to provide interpretation of
regulatory guidance and emerging practice in the use of
epidemiology and evaluate potential outcomes.
·
Actively participate in cross-industry and external scientific
forums to ensure up to date knowledge on the state of the
science and advocate the future development of scientific
methods and interpretation practices.
·
Represent Syngenta as an expert in epidemiology and exposure
science in discussions with external regulatory authorities
and key stakeholders.
·
Provide interpretation of epidemiology information and support
the integration of data into project teams to agreed timelines
and prioritise.
Required experience and skills:
·
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Epidemiology, exposure Science
or related field
·
Demonstrated experience in epidemiology.
·
Ability to critically evaluate study designs, data
interpretation methodology and identify bias.
·
Demonstrated track record of initiative and innovation.
·
Strong communication (written and verbal) and advocacy skills.
Desired experience:
·
Toxicology.
·
Capable of working effectively across geographies.
·
Ability to build internal and external networks.
·
Ability to identify pragmatic options whilst balancing
risk/benefit, dealing with ambiguity and maintaining high
standards.
·
Strong and creative problem solving/interpretation skills
