Department of Epidemiology, Faculty Position Openings, All
Ranks
The Columbia University
Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public
Health is recruiting faculty at all ranks and in all
substantive areas relevant to epidemiology. We are especially
interested in: (1) candidates whose scholarship investigates
the health effects of racism or solutions to mitigate the
health effects of racism; (2) candidates with experience
conducting community or clinical intervention research as well
as implementation science; and/or (3) candidates who come from
backgrounds that are under-represented in the field of
epidemiology and who bring perspectives to their research,
teaching, and service that reflect membership in groups
historically excluded from higher education and epidemiology.
Positions are tenured, tenure track, or non-tenure track,
commensurate with career stage and level of achievement.
Candidates will demonstrate creativity and originality and be
able to lead and/or collaborate with multidisciplinary
scientific teams and produce new connections, knowledge, and
impact within and beyond those in the department, the school,
and Columbia University. Successful candidates must
demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring a diverse
body of students including those belonging to groups that have
been historically excluded from higher education and
epidemiology.
A track record of
contributing to institutional efforts to promote diverse,
inclusive, and equitable learning and working environments
will be particularly advantageous. Anti-racism, diversity,
equity and inclusion are core objectives of the Department of
Epidemiology and prominently factor into our hiring decisions:

In their cover letter, candidates are encouraged to describe
how they will further the departments objectives through
their research, teaching, and community service.
The Columbia Department of
Epidemiology is a community of collaborators with dynamic
research, service and teaching strengths in a large variety of
areas; see:
https://www.publichealth.columbia.edu/become-student/departments/epidemiology/research.
We are seeking to further strengthen our capabilities and
impact in these core areas and are also open to applicants
whose interests extend to other domains, both within and
beyond the field of epidemiology.
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in
epidemiology or related field (PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD, or
equivalent) required with postdoctoral training or experience
preferred. Experience in teaching and mentoring and an
established record, or clear future promise, of leading
extramurally funded research projects are essential, as is
clear description of the impact that a candidates research,
teaching, and service will have on the publics health.
