MPH Faculty Position – Epidemiology Track
Assistant,
Associate, or Full Professor (position 142 9801)
Eastern
Virginia Medical School (EVMS) is seeking a faculty member
(Assistant or Associate Professor rank) for a full-time
(12-month) position in our CEPH-accredited MPH Program.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or other relevant terminal
degree in a directly related field. Knowledge of SAS is
required, and other statistical packages (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA)
is desirable. Candidates with a strong commitment to teaching
and research are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching
graduate courses, advising and mentoring graduate students,
serving on Program and University committees, participating in
Program assessment activities, and ensuring that the Program
continues to meet all external accreditation requirements.
Candidates must demonstrate research potential and the ability
to collaborate across disciplines.
The MPH
Program enrolls an average of 50 new students per year, with
specialty tracks in Epidemiology and Health Management and
Policy. Graduate Certificates are also offered. Students
typically complete the MPH degree in two years by taking
courses for five consecutive terms. Residential classes are
held during evening hours, and some courses are delivered in
an online or hybrid format.
The Hampton
Roads region offers many opportunities for research
collaboration with investigators in both healthcare and
community-based settings. Notable campus centers include the
Strelitz Diabetes Institute, the Glennan Center for Geriatrics
and Gerontology, and the M. Foscue Brock Institute for
Community and Global Health. The Graduate Program in Public
Health enjoys close relationships with the School of Health
Professions, the School of Medicine, health care providers,
and public health communities. EVMS shares the Eastern
Virginia Medical Center campus with Sentara Norfolk General
Hospital (one of 11 acute care hospitals in a top integrated
healthcare system) and Children’s Hospital of the King’s
Daughters (part of a multi-specialty health system offering
comprehensive pediatric care).
The
