Job Description

Wake Forest Baptist Health seeks a dynamic leader to join us in our Mission to Care, Mission to Cure at Wake Forest Baptist Health. This is a faculty opportunity with a focus on integrated quality initiatives throughout the Wake Forest Baptist Health System. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:          

·     Medical Director of Infection Control and Health System Epidemiologist: 1) provides medical and technical advice and support for infection control efforts throughout the Wake Forest Baptist Health system, including Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Brenner Children’s Hospital, Lexington Medical Center, Davie County Hospital, and all associated physician practices and clinical facilities; 2) Chairs the Infection Control Committee and acts as Health-System Epidemiologist for Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and all affiliated clinical sites; 3) establishes long- and short-term goals for Infection Control, provides expertise in regard to healthcare-acquired infections, communicable diseases exposures, isolation precaution(s), and construction and environmental issues/concerns; 4) oversees the development of programs designed to prevent and/or reduce the transmission of important microorganisms within the facility (e.g. antibiotic resistant organisms); 5) investigates and designs interventions to stem outbreaks of healthcare-acquired infections; 6) participates in and oversees analysis of routine and active surveillance findings and the development of interventional strategies; 7) prepares data and policy revisions for presentation to the Infection Control Committee; 8) oversees infection control efforts at other hospitals in the Wake Forest Baptist Health System to implement uniform policies; 9) develops infection control plans and policies for employee health and assists with implementation strategies to meet employee standards (e.g. mandatory influenza vaccination policy), and 10) oversees the development and implementation of educational activities related to infection control and hospital epidemiology.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop close collegial collaboration with multiple areas across the Health System including Nursing, Human Resources, Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities Planning, and Risk Management.

Job Requirements

MD/DO/PhD – with advanced training; e.g. Infectious Diseases Fellowship with a focus on epidemiology, advanced training (e.g. MPH/MS) and/or experience in hospital/health system epidemiology

·         Successful record of clinical and service excellence, and interest in academia including clinical/translational research, graduate medical education

·         Proven administrative leadership ability and demonstrated excellence in quality enhancement initiatives

·         North Carolina medical licensure (for MD/DO candidates)

·         Rank commensurate with credentials and experience
