Georgia Southern University invites nominations and applications for a tenure track, associate professor position in Epidemiology in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCOPH). Georgia Southern University (www.georgiasouthern.edu), a member institution of the University System of Georgia and a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University, is one of Georgia’s premier universities. A residential university serving nearly 20,000 students in fall 2010, Georgia Southern is recognized for providing all of the benefits of a major university with the feeling of a much smaller college. Founded in 1906, the University offers more than 100 campus-based and online degree programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels through eight colleges. In 2011, Georgia Southern was named the fourth most popular university in the country by U.S. News & World Report’s “Top 20 Most Popular Universities.” The nearly 700-acre park-like campus is located in Statesboro, a classic Main Street community near historic Savannah and Hilton Head Island.

The Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University received initial Council on Education for Public Health accreditation in June 2011. Our mission is to improve the health of the public, support the development of a talented public health workforce, serve rural and underserved populations and support the elimination of health disparities. We will continue to invest the necessary resources to build this outstanding College of Public Health that is increasingly recognized for teaching, research, and service. Justification for development of a College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University was directly related to the potential impact this institution is having in Georgia, the US and the world. The establishment of the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health was made possible by a generous gift in 2004 from Dr. Karl E. Peace, in memory and honor of his wife, Dr. Jiann-Ping Hsu.

Currently, the JPHCOPH offers the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degrees, with 5 emphasis areas in

Biostatistics, Community Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, and Health Policy & Management and the Master of Healthcare Administration (M.H.A.). In addition, we offer 3 Doctor of Public Health (Dr.P.H.) degrees in Community Health Education and Behavior, Biostatistics, and Public Health Leadership.
