The Division of Population Sciences and the Department of Medical
Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the
Department of Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and
Harvard Medical School (HMS) invite applications for a full-time
appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine to
establish a research program in cancer-related health informatics.
Vast quantities of data are collected in the context of routine
cancer care delivery and increasingly hospitals, physicians and
patients participate in data sharing networks that create large
repositories of information. By integrating, developing and
deploying analytic tools to harness this information the
successful candidate is expected to build knowledge that will
accelerate discovery and support more strategic delivery of cancer
care.
The successful candidate is expected to build an innovative
research program investigating how data from diverse sources such
as electronic health records, tissue banks, patient portals, and
wearable health technology can be integrated and analyzed so as to
decrease the cancer burden. The candidate is expected to have
completed an MD and/or PhD with post-doctoral training in health
informatics, engineering, medicine, epidemiology, or related
field. Applicants should have demonstrated early success manifest
as a strong track record of publication or receipt of
peer-reviewed funding. Applicants should have completed advanced
training in research methods and demonstrate motivation to harness
these skills in order to decrease the burden of cancer on
population health.
This dry-laboratory position will be based at the DFCI in the
Division of Population Sciences. The successful candidate will
build an independent research program that has synergy with
investigators focused on the full spectrum cancer data science
from across the DFCI, BWH, HMS and its affiliates. Candidates must
have an MD and/or a PhD and are expected to meet the criteria for
appointment to the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor at HMS.
Interested candidates should submit a CV, statement of interest,
and contact information for three references to: Deborah Schrag
