The Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, seeks highly qualified candidates for several positions in the tenure, clinician-educator (non-tenure), and research tracks (non-tenure) at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level.   Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in and commitment to education and research.  The primary faculty appointment is expected to be in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology; appointments in other School of Medicine departments (e.g., Department of Medicine) are also possible, as appropriate.

Tenure track faculty will be principal investigators of extramurally funded research projects and scientific leaders in their fields (or junior individuals with a high likelihood of leadership and independent funding). The successful candidate will have experience conducting research as principal investigator, teaching, and leading peer reviewed manuscripts.

Clinician Educator track faculty will typically be focused on teaching and collaborative research as co-investigators. The successful candidate may also have experience conducting research as principal investigator. Responsibilities will include participation in Penn’s Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics training programs, teaching, and patient care activities in the faculty member’s clinical specialty (if relevant), and development of a research program.

Research track faculty typically work on extramurally-funded research within a research group led by a tenured faculty member. The successful candidate will have experience conducting research and publishing peer reviewed manuscripts.

We are seeking faculty with research interests in general epidemiology, biomedical informatics, patient-centered outcomes research, randomized clinical trials, and/or comparative effectiveness research. We are also seeking those with specific interests in social/behavioral epidemiology, genetic or molecular epidemiology, injury epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenetics, dermatologic epidemiology, renal epidemiology, cardiovascular epidemiology, pulmonary critical care epidemiology, and epidemiology of gastrointestinal diseases. Applicants with an interest in global health are also welcome. Applicants in other research areas will also be considered. Both non-clinicians and clinicians are invited to apply.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.  The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/Women/Individuals with disabilities/Protected Veterans are encouraged to apply.  Qualified applicants should send a cover letter indicating the specific position to which they are applying, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, and a statement of research interests via the web to:
