The Division of
Epidemiology in the Department of Biostatistics and
Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School
of Medicine, seeks highly qualified candidates for several
positions in the tenure, clinician-educator (non-tenure), and
research tracks (non-tenure) at the Assistant, Associate or
full Professor level. Applicants
must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and have demonstrated
excellent qualifications in and commitment to education and
research. The primary faculty
appointment is expected to be in the Department of
Biostatistics and Epidemiology; appointments in other School
of Medicine departments (e.g., Department of Medicine) are
also possible, as appropriate.
Tenure track faculty will be
principal investigators of extramurally funded research
projects and scientific leaders in their fields (or junior
individuals with a high likelihood of leadership and
independent funding). The successful candidate will have
experience conducting research as principal investigator,
teaching, and leading peer reviewed manuscripts.
Clinician Educator track faculty
will typically be focused on teaching and collaborative
research as co-investigators. The successful candidate may
also have experience conducting research as principal
investigator. Responsibilities will include participation in
Penn’s Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics
training programs, teaching, and patient care activities in
the faculty member’s clinical specialty (if relevant), and
development of a research program.
Research track faculty typically
work on extramurally-funded research within a research group
led by a tenured faculty member. The successful candidate will
have experience conducting research and publishing peer
reviewed manuscripts.
We are seeking faculty with
research interests in general epidemiology, biomedical
informatics, patient-centered outcomes research, randomized
clinical trials, and/or comparative effectiveness research. We
are also seeking those with specific interests in
social/behavioral epidemiology, genetic or molecular
epidemiology, injury epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology,
pharmacogenetics, dermatologic epidemiology, renal
epidemiology, cardiovascular epidemiology, pulmonary critical
care epidemiology, and epidemiology of gastrointestinal
diseases. Applicants with an interest in global health are
also welcome. Applicants in other research areas will also be
considered. Both non-clinicians and clinicians are invited to
apply.
