Rutgers School of Public Health dates back to 1983, when the
New Jersey Graduate Program in Public Health was founded by
Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New
Jersey (UMDNJ). In 1998, the UMDNJ-School of Public Health was
established, and it received full accreditation as the first
collaborative graduate school of public health in 2001. In
July 2013, with the integration of UMDNJ and Rutgers, the
School became the Rutgers School of Public Health. Fully
accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)
through 2022, the School has 52 full-time faculty, 7 part-time
faculty, 60 partner faculty (housed within a partner Rutgers
school/unit), 19 field epidemiologists, and 58
administrative/support staff. With programs at two locations,
the SPH has nine concentration areas; seven departments; nine
interdisciplinary institutes, centers, and programs; and
enrolls 382 students in one of five degree programs.
Founded in 1766, and celebrating its 250th anniversary,
Rutgers is one of the nation's nine colonial colleges and is
New Jersey's Land Grant College. The University consists of 33
degree-granting schools and colleges located on multiple
campuses throughout the state. In 1989, Rutgers was elected to
membership in the prestigious Association of American
Universities, an association of the 62 leading public and
private research universities in the U.S. and Canada.
