The
Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center at the
University of Connecticut, School of Engineering is seeking
applicants for an end-date, full-time Research Associate I.
Under the direction of the Director of the Connecticut
Transportation Safety Research Center (CTSRC), the successful
candidate will provide statistical and analytical support for
crash and transportation safety analysis. We are seeking an
outstanding individual with expertise and experience in
conducting epidemiologic research in injury prevention,
analysis of risk taking behavior, and implementing effective
countermeasures. The primary focus area for research will be
in highway safety. Potential areas of engagement could
include, but are not limited to, teen driver’s programs,
drugged and drunk driving, distracted driving, motor vehicle
injuries, bicycle and pedestrian safety, elderly drivers,
motorcycle safety, drowsy driving, EMT response, trauma,
Injury prevention, and the analysis of systemic safety issues
as they become evident. This position allows for a wide range
of creativity and direct development of reports and tools
which will work to advance public safety in the state of
Connecticut. The successful candidate will need the skills to
research and implement new safety analysis methods and
effectively communicate the research results and methods
developed. The results will be used to help shape policy
decisions and evidence-based practice aimed at facilitating,
expediting and improving safety for all users of the
transportation system in Connecticut. This position will work
very closely with the Connecticut Department of Transportation
Highway Safety Office to identify current needs and areas of
research interest.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Work

criteria and deliver data, as well as to monitor,
evaluate, and revise program operating policies and
procedures. |

and/or participates in various committees
and teams to consult with program heads and
administrative officials on policy and program needs as
well as various administrative issues. |

Development
and implementation of surveys and focus

Developing
Connecticut-specific safety improvement

Minimum Qualifications:
1. |
MS
in epidemiology, biostatistics,
environmental health, or related subject with at least 6
years of experience |
2. |
At
least 12 months of applied statistical
research experience |
3. |
Experience
with statistical software (SAS, R, SPSS,
etc.) |
4. |
Proactive and problem-solving approach to challenges |

Appointment Terms:
This is an end-date, full-time 11-month position based on
available funding, subject to annual renewal. Salary will be
commensurate with successful candidate's background and
