Overview:
The Hilton Postdoctoral Fellowship is a unique
opportunity to receive advanced methods training for state of
the art approaches to understanding what works to enhance
equal opportunity and improve social conditions at a global
scale. With mentorship from an exceptionally
interdisciplinary group of experienced researchers from across
the UCLA campus and around the world, Hilton Postdoctoral
Fellows will contribute to building the evidence base on what
works to improve the lives of the poorest and most
marginalized people.
Position
Description:

Access to mentorship from across the UCLA campus and around
the world in how to examine what works to reduce poverty,
improve health, increase education, and achieve other key
goals included in the SDGs
·
Specific training opportunities in advanced quantitative
methods that focus on understanding causal links between
national policies and programs and outcomes
·
Mentorship on how to use a unique data source that links
quantitative data on national policies in 193 countries to
harmonized household survey data from 90 low- and
middle-income countries from the WORLD Policy Analysis Center
(WORLD).
As part of a
research unit with a strong culture of collaboration, the
Hilton Postdoctoral Fellow will be working full time on their
selected project, making use of WORLD policy data to look at
implementation and impact with Dr. Jody Heymann, the Dean of
Fielding School of Public Health, mentors in their field from
across UCLA and globally, as well as with WORLD research
staff.
This
fellowship is a full-time, residential fellowship for 2 years,
starting either in 2016 or 2017. Compensation for position
will be in accordance with policies set by the UCLA Graduate
Division.
Education/Experience:
·
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in public health, public policy,
political science, international development, economics, or
related discipline.
·
A strong background in causal inference and multilevel
modeling is required.
·
Excellent communication, writing, and research skills are
required.
·
Demonstrated interest and understanding of public policy, the
SDGs or poverty alleviation.
