Dalhousie University’s Department of Community Health &
Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a
tenure stream position as a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC)
in Patient-Centred Outcomes Research at the level of Assistant
or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will benefit
from, and strengthen, established relationships among
patients, healthcare providers, policy-makers and researchers
across the region through the Maritime Strategy for Patient
Oriented Research SUPPORT Unit.
Applicants with a PhD and a strong track record of conducting
patient-centred outcomes research in the areas of epidemiology
or health services research will be considered for this CRC
position. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of
independent and externally-funded research that uses
quantitative research methods to evaluate health services
delivery including the benefits and harms of health
interventions focused on a specific target population. The
candidate must have the potential to develop a collaborative
and impactful research program that is complementary to
ongoing research activities within the Faculty of Medicine,
and to engage with local, national and international research
networks. The successful applicant will be expected to
strengthen patient-centred outcomes research. Evidence of
knowledge translation experience will be an asset.
The CRC program was established by the Canadian Federal
Government with the purpose of attracting outstanding
researchers to the Canadian university system. The CRC program
expects Tier 2 nominees to be excellent emerging world-class
researchers who have demonstrated particular research
creativity; have demonstrated the potential to achieve
international recognition in their fields in the next five to
ten years; have the potential to attract, develop and retain
excellent trainees, students and future researchers; and
propose an original, innovative research program of high
quality. Applicants who are more than 10 years from having
earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist,
such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical
training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair
assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process.
