The Division of Epidemiology in the Department
of Family Medicine and Population Health at Virginia
Commonwealth University (VCU) invites applications for a
tenure-eligible Associate or Full Professor. The Division is
a premiere public health program, recognized for innovative,
experiential training for a new generation of public health
leaders and rigorous research that improves population health
and health equity.
About the Division:
The Division currently consists of 7 core
faculty with active research programs in behavioral/cancer
epidemiology, maternal/child health, psychiatric epidemiology,
genetic epidemiology, traumatic brain injury, and social
disparities in health. Located in the state capital of
Richmond, Virginia, approximately 100 miles south of
Washington, D.C., this position offers opportunities for
interaction and research collaboration with faculty in two
other public health departments, clinicians, and practitioners
and policy makers in state and local agencies. VCU boasts one
of the country's most comprehensive health sciences centers,
including the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing,
Dentistry, and Allied Health Professions, as well as the
NCI-designated Massey
Cancer Center,
the C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and
Translational Research, the Center on Society and Health, and
the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or
related field and be eligible to work in the United States.
Those with an interest and strong background in epidemiologic
methods are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will
have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with clear
evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external
funding appropriate to complement and expand existing
expertise in the Division as well as accomplishments in
graduate-level teaching and other professional activities
commensurate with appointment as a tenure-eligible Associate
or Full professor. All candidates should have demonstrated
experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff,
and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty
member at VCU. Individuals with research and teaching
